The Shores Removes Height Limits

Building Height Limits Removed - Daytona Beach Shore - The LUXE GROUP 386.299.4043

The city of Daytona Beach Shores has maintained it's restrictions and views on on keeping a cap on their buildings' height limits since 1997, restricting building height under their “large lot criteria” to 12-stories or 110 feet. Unfortunately, these restrictions have prevented many developers from building luxury high-rise condominiums due to the higher cost per door lot price resulting from these restrictions. Such restrictions also reduce the potential tax base in future years, which will inevitably lead to a budget deficit in the future!

Tuesday June 13, 2017, this restriction changed with a 3-2 vote at a City Council meeting where more than 100 residents were in attendance to see how this highly controversial decision would play out. According to the Daytona Beach News Journal, Councilmen Mel Lindauer and Richard Bryan voted against the height increase and Mayor Harry Jennings, Councilwoman Peggy Rice and Councilwoman Lorraine Geiger voted for it.
