Fun for Fido: Volusia County Dog Friendly Beaches

If you are like many dog owners, a day at the beach with your four-legged friend sounds like a pretty great way to spend a warm summer day. Fortunately, there are two dog-friendly beaches right here in Volusia County!

Smyrna Dunes Park

2995 N Peninsula Drive, New Smyrna Beach, Florida

Located on the north side of the New Smyrna Beach peninsula, Smyrna Dunes Park offers amenities such as showers, bathrooms, plenty of parking, and over 2 miles of elevated wooden walkways that are accessible to leashed dogs and their owners. Throughout the park, you will find picnic tables as well as designated areas for fishing and swimming. Be aware: there are no lifeguards on duty, so never swim alone. Also, leash laws are strongly enforced within the park!

Hours: Sunrise to Sunset Admission: $10 per car, $20 annual pass

Lighthouse Point Park

5000 S Atlantic Avenue, Ponce Inlet, Florida

Cross the Dunlawton Bridge and travel south on A1A until you come to Lighthouse Point Park, near the Historic Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. The park consists of 52 acres and features restrooms, showers (including a dog shower), pavilions, hiking/nature trails, fishing and swimming areas where dogs are welcome, but must remain on a leash at all times.

Hours: Sunrise to Sunset Admission: $10 per car, $20 annual pass
