Ormond Beach Waterfront Homes

Tucked away in Volusia County on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, Ormond Beach, Florida nestles in the shadow of its larger and world-famous neighbor, Daytona Beach. However, this thriving little community still has plenty to offer, especially to people looking for an area that is not so busy.

With just over 42,000 residents, Ormond Beach is large enough to offer a variety of amenities without taking on the hustle and bustle of a larger city. Plus, all the shops and restaurants in Daytona Beach are nearby if residents can’t get what they need in Ormond beach.

What’s it like living in a waterfront home in Ormond Beach? Let’s take a look.

Waterfront Homes in Ormond Beach

Ormond Beach may be small, but it offers plenty in the way of waterfront homes. Those that love the ocean will adore a luxury home on the Atlantic Coast, or at the very least love taking advantage of the 23 miles of white sand beaches that residents can access.

Just a few blocks inland from the ocean, the Halifax river cuts through, offering riverfront homes on both banks for those who appreciate calmer waters.

Activities in Ormond Beach

The beaches are a huge attraction in Ormond Beach. The hard-packed sand with few seashells make walking along the beach — even barefoot — a favorite activity for many residents. It also lends itself well to running, bicycling, and driving other small vehicles on the beach (such as golf carts and motor scooters).

Though the main beaches in Ormond Beach are not overly crowded, residents who want an even more laid-back experience can head north of Highway 40 for beaches that are rarely crowded.

Aside from spending a day on the beach, there are plenty of other outdoorsy-type activities residents can enjoy. The area boasts several parks, including the sizeable Addison Blockhouse State Park. A smaller arm of the Halifax River cuts through the park and visitors can enjoy a number of water-based tours and activities (ferries, tour boats, etc.), camping, walking trails, and so much more.

Travel and Entertainment

Ormond Beach has its own municipal airport and there is easy access to a larger international airport in nearby Daytona. In other words, Ormond Beach is a lovely place to enjoy yet is also a great launch point for those who get bit by the travel bug quite frequently.

For bolder entertainment, Orlando and Jacksonville are both within a 1 ½ hour drive away. This area is, of course, famous for its plethora of theme parks, water parks, and all sorts of family-friendly entertainment as well as a vibrant nightlife scene.
